Welcome to SaddbleBrooke Francophiles Diners à La Maison Website Blog which showcases the many delicious recipes (not always French cuisine either) that were prepared during the past culinary season. DESSERT: Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

 INGREDIENTS:  

1  cup margarine (2 sticks)                                                                              .
¼ cup cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
½ cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla


 (Serves 15-20) This recipe is not used in MODRN Nurse

PREPARATION:

Melt margarine, cocoa, water in saucepan and bring to a boil.  Add this mixture to sugar and flour in a large mixing bowl.  Stir in buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Bake in sheet cake pan which has been greased and floured. Bake at 400 degrees  for 25 min. or until a cake tester comes out clean.

While cake is hot, frost with:

 ½ cup oleo or butter
 ¼ cup cocoa
 6 Tablespoons  milk
 Melt the above ingredients in a saucepan and add to this mixture:


16 ounces powered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 c up chopped nuts

Pour frosting on hot cake.  This recipe is great for potluck or a group party.
